Frames of the month Guidelines and Judging Criteria

Frames of the Month is a recurring monthly photo contest by FRAMES, created to recognize and celebrate outstanding photography within our community. Each month, photographers are invited to submit their best work, from which three selected photographs will be featured in the FRAME e-magazine and on the PhotoWalk Nepal website. At the end of the year, the best photograph from all monthly selections will be awarded the Photo of the Year, along with attractive prizes. This initiative aims to encourage consistency, creativity, and storytelling throughout the year.

Submission Rules

Eligibility: Open to photographers of all levels from Nepal unless specified otherwise

Submission Frequency: Each participant may submit up to 3 photographs per month.

Image Ownership & Rights: Submitted photographs must be original workof the participant. The photographer retains full copyright of their images. By submitting, photographers grant PhotoWalk Nepal and FRAME permission to feature the images in the e-magazine, website, and social media with proper credit.

Image Specifications: High-resolution JPEG format preferred. Minimal post-processing is allowed; excessive manipulation that alters reality should be avoided unless the theme explicitly allows it. AI-generated or heavily AI-assisted images will not be accepted

Themes: Frames of the Month is an open-themed photo contest unless specified otherwise in the call for entries.

Ethics & Responsibility: Images involving people must be captured with respect and dignity. Wildlife and nature images must follow ethical photography practices: no disturbance, baiting, or harm to animals or habitats.

Submission Method & Deadline: Submissions should be sent by email to photowalknepal@gmail.com before the 15th of each month with the subject line ‘Frames of the Month Submission’. Late submissions will not be considered.

Selection & Announcement: Three photographs will be selected each month and featured on the FRAME e-magazine and PhotoWalk Nepal website. Selected photographers will be notified before public announcement.

Judging Criteria

All submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Storytelling & Impact
  • Composition & Visual Strength
  • Creativity & Originality
  • Technical Quality
  • Relevance to Theme (if applicable)
  • Ethical Considerations

Annual Recognition: Photo of the Year

At the end of the year, all monthly selected photographs will be reviewed again.
One photograph will be awarded Photo of the Year, based on overall impact, consistency with FRAME’S values, and long-term storytelling strength. Attractive prizes will be announced closer to the award period.
