Stepping into Bhaktapur is like entering a living canvas of Nepal’s rich cultural heritage. Ancient temples, palace courtyards, traditional brick houses, narrow alleys, and bustling squares came together to create a remarkable setting for our August photowalk. As participants moved through the historic city, they photographed not only its celebrated architecture, but also the people, details, textures, and everyday moments that give Bhaktapur its distinctive character.

The morning offered countless opportunities to explore the relationship between heritage and daily life. Intricately carved wooden windows, weathered brick walls, temple sculptures, traditional courtyards, and quiet corners revealed themselves differently as light shifted across the city. Alongside these architectural details, vendors, residents, visitors, and children brought movement and human stories into the frame. For participants, the walk became an exercise in looking beyond the familiar landmarks and discovering photographs in the details and interactions that might otherwise go unnoticed.

As with our recent photowalks, the morning was also about learning and sharing. Participants exchanged ideas, discussed their approaches to photography, and encouraged one another throughout the walk. The experience continued beyond making photographs, creating opportunities for photographers of different levels to learn from one another and develop their own ways of seeing.

More than a journey through a historic city, the Bhaktapur Photowalk became a shared exploration of heritage, everyday life, and visual storytelling—captured through many different perspectives, one frame at a time.
