The Bouddhanath Stupa is one of Kathmandu’s most iconic cultural and spiritual landmarks; where centuries old traditions, vibrant community life, and everyday moments come together in a setting rich with photographic opportunities.

Our recent photowalk brought together photographers from the community to explore the stupa and its surrounding streets, monasteries, and marketplaces through their own unique perspectives. From pilgrims circling the stupa to monks, shopkeepers, visitors, and the intricate details of prayer flags and architecture, participants discovered stories unfolding naturally throughout the morning.

Beyond the visual richness of Bouddha, the photowalk encouraged participants to look deeper, and create photographs that went beyond familiar landmarks. Changing light, human interactions, and the rhythm of daily life offered endless opportunities to explore composition, timing, and visual storytelling.

A special highlight of the day was the presence of Mr. Mani Lama, one of the pioneers of travel photography in Nepal. Participants had the privilege of viewing his collection of photo books and listening to stories from decades of photographic exploration across Nepal. His experiences and insights inspired meaningful discussions on observation, travel, and the role of photography in documenting culture and place.

As part of our continuing collaboration with Nikon Nepal, participants also had the opportunity to experience Nikon mirrorless camera systems during the photowalk. The morning concluded with our newly introduced Photo Review & Critique Session, where participants shared photographs from the walk and their previous work, receiving constructive feedback and exchanging ideas in a supportive learning environment.

This featured gallery presents a selection of photographs from the morning, celebrating the many ways participants experienced Bouddha through light, culture, people, and visual storytelling.

One shared journey, countless perspectives, and stories waiting to be discovered through every frame.
