Kirtipur is one of the Kathmandu Valley’s most atmospheric and culturally layered settlements; where old streets, traditional architecture, and everyday life continue to coexist within a distinctly historic environment.
Our recent photowalk brought together photographers from the community to explore and document the moments that define the town. From temple courtyards and narrow alleys to quiet conversations, resting spaces, and scenes of daily life. Participants approached Kirtipur through their own individual perspectives and observations. What stood out throughout the walk was not only the visual richness of the location, but the way stories slowly revealed themselves through light, gesture, texture, and movement.
This photowalk also carried special significance as we celebrated 19 years of PhotoWalk Nepal. It marked nearly two decades of free photowalks, shared learning experiences, friendships, and a growing community connected through photography and visual storytelling.
This featured gallery brings together a selection of photographs from the walk, highlighting moments of culture, atmosphere, detail, and storytelling that shaped the experience of Kirtipur through many different eyes.
Following the walk, participants, supporters, and members of the community gathered together for a traditional Newari feast to celebrate the occasion and reflect on the journey of PhotoWalk Nepal over the years.
As part of the experience, Nikon Nepal provided mirrorless camera systems and lenses for participants to explore during the walk, offering the opportunity to work with different tools in a real-world environment.
A shared walk, many perspectives, and nineteen years of stories still unfolding.
